LGBTQIA+ Inclusion in the Life of the Church
At St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, we believe that following Christ means seeking justice, showing mercy, and loving our neighbors without exception. The Baptismal Covenant calls us to “strive for justice and peace among all people” and to “respect the dignity of every human being.” These promises guide how we live our faith and how we serve our community.
We affirm and celebrate the presence of LGBTQIA+ people in every part of parish life. All are welcome to share fully in worship, leadership, fellowship, and service. We recognize that many have experienced exclusion or harm in other faith settings, and we are committed to offering a place where everyone can experience the love of God in safety and belonging.
Our commitment to justice begins with inclusion, but it does not end there. The same compassion that welcomes all people also inspires our outreach in Mount Carmel. We work alongside others in our community to offer help, presence, and encouragement to those in need. In doing so, we seek to reflect Christ’s love not only through words, but through action.
As a parish, we continue to learn, listen, and grow in faith, trusting that God’s reconciling love is always calling us toward a deeper understanding of one another.

Welcoming Our Spanish-Speaking Community
¡Hola! St. John’s welcomes all persons for whom Spanish is their native language. We have many church members who are fluent in Spanish. We have written resources in Spanish which are available for corporate worship as well as personal prayer and meditation. We have greeters who are happy to assist and greet our Latinex neighbors. Sermons will be translated into Spanish, if requested. Although we do not currently offer a bilingual worship service, this is something we dream of.
